How might we give users the tools to customize their smart ice maker experience?

I was brought in by a famous home appliance brand to conduct a design thinking workshop to help them ideate features for a connected ice maker with a mobile app.

The Process

I led user interviews and conducted a workshop with stakeholders to capture the goals, hopes, concerns, and any requirements around the Connected Ice maker project to create a list of prioritized features for the proposed app

I translated these requirements into wireframes, and met again with stakeholders to discuss the flow and experience.

The prioritized features were:

  1. Turn the ice maker on and off

  2. Schedule ice making

  3. Choose size and weight of ice

  4. Clean ice maker and order filters

  5. Discover drink recipes with the ice

Following their design guidelines, I designed a mobile app experience that incorporated all the requirements for users to customize their ice maker experience.
